Thought by researchers to be a by-product of a collision between a comet and a huge asteroid, the Nilean Ice Fields are an amalgam of rock fragments and large chunks of frozen water and gas drifting through the space between Caulfeld and Nilea. Commonly used as a refuge by pirates and smugglers, the ice fields are nearly impossible to navigate without the proper charts. The heavy flow of ice and rock within the Ice Fields lead to constant collisions, which in turn wreak havoc with sensors.
