Horoscopes on Athas are determined by the time of a person's time of birth in relation to the Endlean and Seofean cycles, in addition to the phase of the sun (High Sun, Sun Descending, or Sun Ascending). To use the information presented here, you need to know the year of your character's birth (according to the King's Age), as well as the phase of the sun that the character was born under.
Please note that, like our own modern-day horoscopes, the Athasian one works on generalizations and superstition. Not everything that it reveals about a character need be true. This is designed as a game aid to add color and wit to the customs and superstitions of the Athasian people. In addition, it may help to further define a character's personality if a player or DM wishes to take the information below to heart.
ENDLEAN ASPECT
The Endlean aspect of a character's birth is thought to determine aptitudes he/she might develop. Such aptitudes are usually encouraged by a child's parents. As such, this aspect (more often than not) dictates where a character's interests or aptitudes might be if his superstitious parents had exerted any influence. Of course, there are plenty of Friend-born people who are shy and reclusive, just as there are Mountain-born people who are quite intelligent.
Ral -
Athas' smaller silver moon. People born under the Ral-aspect are refuted to be unnaturally lucky in love. It is also said that they are prone to prophetic dreams, and give good advice to those who will listen. Many make wonderful counselors, psionicists, and soothsayers.
Friend -
Literally speaking, a friend is someone who knows everything about you, but likes you anyway. Those born under the Endlean aspect of Friend tend to get along well with others. They are, by nature, extroverted, charismatic, and are prone to succeed at jobs that have to do with people (merchants, templars, and bards).
Desert -
The deserts that cover Athas burn with the heat of the sun, and it has been many a fool who has wandered into the desert to his death. Being born under the Endlean aspect of Desert is a mixed blessing. Like the desert itself, such people tend to be hard and unforgiving of mistakes. They are also clever and cunning, and Being devious and underhanded, they have a natural affinity for jobs requiring deception (thievery, politics, or spying).
Priest -
Priests are holy men who worship one of the elements, or very rarely, one of the dead gods. Priest-born characters, like their namesakes, tend to be humble and wise. They learn from their mistakes, and are often possessed of accurate memories and keen minds. As such, they are particularly apt to take up scholarly professions (clerics, templars, mages, scribes, and sages).
Wind -
Winds constantly blow over Athasian soil, an unstoppable force that flows around, over, and under everything in its path. Like the wind itself, those born under its aspect overcome obstacles easily, and tend to be good problem-solvers. They are tenacious, and don't give up easily. It is said that Wind-born people make the finest psionicists.
Dragon -
The Dragon, according to tales, was once a great leader who rallied his people to destroy the first sorcerer. Those born under the Dragon aspect are reputed to be strong warriors and cunning military strategists. Of course, a military profession is the obvious career choice for such a character.
Mountain -
A mountain is a high, stony landmass, larger than a hill. Like mountains, those born under this aspect tend to be strong, stubborn, and immovable in their resolve. They are also stereotypically methodical, as well as somewhat slow mentally. Jobs that require strength, but require very little intellect (ie, gladiators, weapon smiths, and armorers) are perfect for someone born under the Mountain-aspect.
King -
Kings are rulers of men, ordained by their lineage to rule over all they survey. Like a king should be, those characters born under the King-aspect are natural leaders with excellent oratory skills and a knack for political intrigue. As such, they make superb leaders who incite fanatical loyalty in their followers.
Silt -
Silt is the fine sand that blows from the east, from the Silt Sea. Silt, being a fine powder, can be blown to and fro with very little effort. Like their namesake, Silt-aspected characters tend to be followers, always in need of guidance. Silt is also the richest planting soil, and as such, Silt-aspected people make excellent farmers.
Enemy -
An enemy is someone who is not your friend, or someone who wishes to do you harm. While not always hostile, many Enemy-aspected people are loners who are wary of both strangers and friends alike. While they are not usually sociable, they are incredibly self-reliant. People born under the Enemy-aspect work quite well alone, and make fine druids and rangers.
Guthay -
Athas' larger, golden moon. Those born under the Guthay-aspect are said to live long lives, full of wealth and success. While no particular professions cry out to these fortunate souls, they are said to make excellent healers and midwives.
SEOFEAN ASPECT AND SUN PHASE
The Seofean Aspect of someone's birth helps to decide the attitudes, traits, and personality the person will develop over the course of his life. The phase of the sun, when combined with the Seofean aspect, determines how strongly such attitudes will manifest. For instance, those born during high sun tend to exhibit more extreme and sometimes undesirable attitudes, while those born during sun ascending tend towards more moderate and desirable attitudes. Those born during sun descending are usually the polar opposites of those born during sun ascending.

PUTTING IT ALL INTO USE
Our friend, Fynar, was born during High Sun in the year of Wind's Contemplation, in the 190th King's Age. His Endlean aspect is Wind, and his Seofean aspect is Contemplation. Being born under the Wind-aspect means that Fynar is probably a good problem-solver, able to think around most problems, and that he doesn't easily give up. However, since he was born under the Seofean aspect of Contemplation during High Sun, he will tend to be overprotective, restrictive, and smothering.
