AD&D statistics for Hamide, Lynn Abbey's character. They conform to our House Rules.
Excerpted from Hamide's Character Questionaire :
Hamide has "a small tattoo above his right ankle. The mark is four interlocking semi-circles which symbolize a 'safe catch' in aerial acrobatics and serves as Hamide's bona fides when dealing with troupes of traveling entertainers. [...] He's in athletic, very nearly gymnastic command of his body. He can probably do some sleight-of-hand magic; certainly he could learn anything that required muscular precision.
"Generally, I'd call his style subdued entertainer - Hamide's conscious that the appearance of his clothes is frequently more important than his own appearance. His 'work' clothes are durably flashy. He seeks to convey the image of a young man on his way up, and is generally adept at it. Being somewhat inclined to sunburn (not to mention having a mild inclination to larceny etc.), Hamide prefers moderately loose-fitting ankle length (boot tucked) trousers and cuffed, long-sleeved shirts. I suspect he's partial to hats, especially of the broad-brimmed variety. His cloak(s), however, are preferably hooded. His boots are softer, rather than harder."
Excerpted from various notes taken during character creation :
"Hamide carries a somewhat flexible kris-like slashing knife (most likely a laminated and composited insect mandible) which is just shorter than the outside length of his thigh. He wears it reversed and on the right; he draws it right-handed. He carries another knife in a boot-sheath which is more like a Scottish dirk, but primarily a tool rather than a weapon, although he can fight with it, usually as a weapon concealed beneath a lightweight cloak, used primarily for distraction and envelopment. (If none of this makes sense, rent copies of Richard Lester's THREE and FOUR MUSKETEERS and watch how Athos [Oliver Reed] fights--particularly in the water-mill sequence.)
"Hamide's primary cover and means of earning an honest day's income is as a storyteller (role playing from strength). For a fee, he'll ask you some questions about your ancestors or whatever and then come up with suitably impressive entertainment at your self-congratulatory banquet (or whatever)."
