I Wouldn't Be Too Worried
[Crossroads Inn, Fall Room]
Though modest in appearance, this room is clean and comfortable. Covered by a gaily colored cotton throw, a fluffy feather bed sits against one wall. Beside it, an oil lamp rests on a small pine nightstand and a braided rug covers the floor. Opposite the bed, an inviting rocking chair and a muslin-covered table have been placed beneath a window with pine shutters. Wooden pegs, from which guests may hang their belongings, protrude from the back of the door. You see five small piece of twisted metals and an earthenware mug. Also here is Sergeant Merow.
Muffled noises can be heard coming from the hallway.
You say, "Well."
You close a green door.
Merow raises an eyebrow in your direction.
You say, "I understand that there was some trouble regarding the Lady Ambassador the other day."
You look a bit uncomfortable.
Merow nods to you.
Merow says, "Aye."
You ask, "A parchment was stolen from her by some orcs?"
Merow says, "Apparently."
You untie your scarlet ribbon and pull it out of your hair.
You say, "It happens... Well, I'm a little confused myself."
You say, "But it happens that I gave her a letter to deliver to the Prince on Sartday, during the Festival."
Merow says, "Alright."
You say, "Mayhap it's a mistake, but I can't help but wonder if it's the same parchment. Although I've no idea why the orcs would want it."
Merow asks, "What was it?"
You say, "It was just a letter from myself and Xelian thanking the Prince for his help with the Temple."
Merow asks, "Was there anything else with the letter, or was it just a thank you note?"
You say, "I have another copy, I was going to give one to Xelian in case one of us had the opportunity to deliver it. But then I ran into the Lady Ambassador and gave her my copy, and didn't need to give Xelian hers."
You shake your head at Merow.
Merow says, "Just the letter."
Merow scratches his chin.
You exclaim, "Just the letter!"
You say, "I'm entirely confused."
You ask, "What would the orcs want with my personal correspondence?"
You open a sleek black leather scroll pouch.
Merow says, "Well, I'll tell you what I think, if you promise to keep it entirely to yourself."
You nod to Merow slowly.
Merow says, "I think she's using your letter to cover a far greater loss."
You raise an eyebrow.
Merow says, "I've just got to figure out exactly what that is."
Merow grins wryly.
Merow asks, "I wouldn't be too worried about your letter, have you told many people about it?"
Merow peers at you.
You shake your head.
Merow asks, "Any at all?"
You say, "No, I was rather embarrassed."
You say, "No, only yourself. Xelian will probably come to the same conclusion as I did, though, that it was our letter they took."
Merow says, "Feel free to tell people about your letter though."
You say, "Well, that's all I've got to tell you, at any rate."
You act: Jurion surveys his surroundings.
You say, "All right..."
Merow whispers 'Can't hurt to help the Ambassador and Prince in their deception' to you.
Merow nods to you.
Merow opens a green door.
You nod to Merow cautiously.
Merow says, "After you then."
You say, "Fair enough. Thank you."
You walk through the green door.
