The Kant Uprising

Kant -- Witchespax, the second of Plade, six long years ago. A cold day, bitter and gray -- soon lit by fire.

The terror of famine gripped much the duchy of Angar Wydde. Constant raids by the Talonish Empire had decimated the harvest season and most able-bodied males had already been conscripted into service. Archduke Julion Fekisk had just approved a "seeding tarrif" on the late crop of winter wheat.

The response was quick and overwhelming. A brief civil war erupted as Archduke Fekisk learned the folly of arming disgruntled civilians: The archduke was defenestrated at some point over the next ten days, although Fekisk Keep was never breeched. Less than a week later the "Zkol Horde" -- Talone's eastern army -- rolled into the province decimating the scattered forces.

The war was savage and brief. What reinfocements could be mustered from Kaezar and the few surrounding provinces were slowed in travel by Queen Llwyellia of Nellcwyln, who demanded recognition of sovereignty -- the Imperial Troops would not be allowed to cross her borders.

While Queen Llwyellia's rebellious stance stood well within her sovereign rights, her obstinacy surely cost the Imperium Angar Wydde and much of Chertaghia besides. At the Grand Convocation of the following winter, the Imperial Council declined to review her decision, at a vote of 5 to 2 with 4 abstaining.

By the time reinforcements arrived, an uneasy peace had been realized. Local leaders were either slain or installed as proxy government under orcish martial law in many captured townships. The remaining cities and towns were soundly razed.

Lady Prine, former aide-de-camp to Fekisk, was installed as Duchess of Kant, proper, directly under Emperor Talone. She has since been declared a pretender to the throne, as per Imperium Law.

Talone's army was firmly established within Angar Wydde supported by supply lines and the natural defenses of the thickly wooded terrain. The Imperial Troops skirmished a couple of times before establishing their own presence.

And now, six years later, deep within the month of Plade, the entrenched orc camp has displayed the first signs of conquest. Their target: Kaezar, guardian of Seelie Bay and the first step to Talone's dream to become a true naval power and expand his sphere of influence beyond Peregorne.

"Ghur il' khatch nugh il' khatch" -- May he who sleeps with his sword fall upon his blade.
