If Only They Knew

[Crossroads Inn, Common Room]
Thinly varnished oak walls enclose this common room. Stretching along the back wall is a grimy datiawood bar, its wood counter warped from age and spilled drinks. An old, rather ornate chandelier is suspended from the ceiling and illuminates a menu that hangs over a small sign, which is tacked to a beam behind the bar. Wooden tables, chairs, benches and stools are scattered throughout the room, and a small lyre leans against a trash can, waiting to be played. Leading up to the second floor is a set of misshapen rickety stairs. You see Breen the barkeep. Also here is Kahund, Saebra, Shadeark, Sergeant Khregen, Myrahhge, Serapha, and Sergeant Aljeron (seated on a wooden bench).

The aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air.

Muffled voices can be heard from nearby tables.
The only obvious exit is out.

Saebra glances at Kahund.
Saebra plops herself down at the bar.
Aljeron touches his lips thoughtfully.
Aljeron eats the last of his golden yellow pear and toss away the core.
Kahund stumbles up the stairs.
Shadeark asks, "How did you find out Ruggerio was in there?"
Saebra says, "The door opened."
Saebra shrugs.
Serapha listens intently to something only she can hear.
Saebra says, "Kahund walked in on him and Lariis."
Khregen says, "I looked trough de door when hit oppened."
Aljeron glances at Serapha.
Saebra says, "I went in to get the kid before she screamed her head off."
Saebra gazes upwards to the heavens.

Serapha eyes glaze for a moment.
Saebra nods to Khregen.
Aljeron stands up.
Khregen says, "He was last seen entering de west gate."

Aljeron glances at Serapha.
Aljeron rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Khregen says, "Take a leg er sumptin te keep em from runnin off."

Shadeark meanders out to the street.
Myrahhge peeks out nervously.
Saebra says, "Tis alright, wee one."
Serapha says, "All becomes quiet in fear of something unseen, but advancing."
Aljeron gets a basket of fresh red strawberries from a simple backpack.
Aljeron glances at his hands.
Myrahhge chitters nervously.
Aljeron offers his basket of fresh red strawberries to Myrahhge.
Aljeron nods to Myrahhge.
Saebra says, "Serapha, take it easy."
Myrahhge peers at Aljeron.
Saebra grins at Serapha.
Aljeron winks.
Myrahhge accepts Aljeron's offer.
Saebra says, "You'll frighten the wee one."
Serapha says, "They come close to protect their own."
Ruggerio the Barber stumbles down the last step on the stairs.
Ruggerio the Barber's group follows him.
Serapha says, "One who has walked among us and gained our trust."
Aljeron walks over to a stool.
Aljeron whispers something to Saebra.

> l lariis
Lariis is a illthye in her early forties, whose shimmering white hair has been braided and coiled elegantly to frame her pale, high-cheekboned face. Cool green eyes and a distant smile lend her an aloof air. Her graceful walk hints at years of training.
Lariis' hands are empty.
She is wearing some gossamer gloves and a sheer white lisse chemise.

Saebra says, "I just came to get the kid."
Ruggerio the Barber glances around quickly then heads towards the door.
Saebra grins at Ruggerio the Barber.

Saebra says, "Wait til his wife hears about this."
The light fades from the area.
Saebra smirks.
Saebra plops herself down at the bar.
Shadeark says, "I could bribe Ruggerio."
Myrahhge puts a basket of fresh red strawberries in her finely woven deep blue silk cloak.
Shadeark says, "Well blackmail."
Saebra chuckles at Shadeark.
Serapha says, "The place is dank, and the shadow of his soul darkens it."
Serapha says, "Yet a willing spy he is not."
Saebra peers at Serapha.
Shadeark says, "And that should not have been said in front of two sergeants."
Saebra grins at Shadeark.
Serapha flinches.
Shadeark gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Serapha swoons.
Shadeark gestures and summons the power of his god with the words "Sul Lor".
Light suffuses the area.
The sudden light reveals you from hiding.
Saebra says, "I would have thought it wouldn't."
Aljeron ponders the situation.

[City of Kaezar, Tempest Road at Avanil Way, Crossroads]
Sitting in the shadow of the clock tower to the east, a large building occupies the entire south side of the block. Extremely rutted from the carts and wagons that traffic to the northern, eastern, western and southern sections of Kaezar City, the road is a quagmire of mud and deep puddles.
Obvious exits are east, south, north, and west.

(Here I run away and a few moments pass, it becomes apparent that they don't notice, so I return.)
