We Have Ghosts in This Castle

[Malcomb Castle, Great Gate]
Set like a crown on the mighty Dragyn Spur Bluff, the machicolated towers of the Great Gate peer down upon all that tread upon the castle green. Centered between two half-hexagonal towers beneath the gatehouse structure are a series of murder holes. Arrow loops, strategically placed down the length of the two towers, are used in the defense of the castle proper. Narrow windows in rows of three run down both towers, while looming limestone walls, which flank the gatehouse, stretch as far as the eye can see. Also here is Lucilla, Teru (seated), Ulpril (seated), Sceen, Tralos, Merow, Cedaven, and Shadeark.
The only obvious exit is south.

You are holding a golden linen parchment in your right hand.
You are wearing a small black leather burnished belt sheath, an engraved sildok earcuff, a speckled amulet with a daun and black onyx raven pendant hanging over it, a violet and moss green gossamer gown with a silvery fox fur cape draped over it, a silvery mesh snood, a handbeaded reticule, some lavender linen hose, a fancy lavender burlap pouch, some delicate gossamer slippers, and some threaded silver boar skin gloves.

> time

'Tis three minutes past four o'clock in the afternoon
upon Sartday the seventh day of Kolbre.
The Age of Dreams has held ascendancy for the past 636 years.

[ After a loooong wait, a royal guard arrived and had Merow and Shadeark accompany him through the gate, while the rest of the petitioners waited outside and readied themselves for their audience. I'm cutting to when the guard shows up again and asks for Rusty, the first petitioner. While the conversations were interesting, they would easily add another ten pages to this log, and that's not even counting all the spellcasting that was going on. ]

A royal guard arrives.
Lucilla rolls up her thick threadbare sheepskin scroll.
Lucilla puts a thick threadbare sheepskin scroll in her fine dark purple silk cloak.
Cedaven says, "Similar, yes."
Teru glances at a Royal Guard.
Lucilla nods to Cedaven.
You glance at a Royal Guard.
Cedaven nods to a Royal Guard.
Cedaven says, "Good day, sir."
Ulpril says, "Bah, My Father was Chieftain of the Grullack clan of Temboc, and my Mother was Master Healer and Birther."
Lucilla hums a catchy little tune.
A Royal Guard nods.
Ulpril says, "And I followed in my mothers path and my husband took my fathers petition."
Ulpril says, "Hrmph."
Ulpril mumbles.
Teru stares off into the distance.
Teru asks, "Is there an order to this..who goes first and such?"
Teru peers curiously at a Royal Guard.
Ulpril gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Ulpril incants "Fas Vis" and gestures.
Ulpril holds her hands with the palms upward, and concentrates.
Shifting mist gathers above Ulpril's hands, forming itself into a perfect sphere. Ulpril's eyes glaze over as she looks into the shifting sphere of mist.
Ulpril gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Lucilla sways from side to side.
Teru furrows his brow.
Ulpril says, "Hrm, Caritas be there, Vek.. all those people that went in, and a big fuddy duddy of a guard."
Ulpril gets a faraway look in her eyes and says, "Fide Pax Esut."
Ulpril is overcome by a sense of absolute peace and serenity.
A Royal Guard glances over the crowd.
You stare off into the distance.
Sceen glances at a Royal Guard.
Sceen nods slowly.
A Royal Guard says, "You miss."
Ulpril says, "Wearing lots of stuff."
Ulpril shrugs.
A Royal Guard points at you.
Sceen glances at you.
You chuckle.
Lucilla raises an eyebrow.
A Royal Guard says, "Come with me please."
You say, "Of course."
Teru nods solemnly.
Sceen glances at a Royal Guard. You get back on your feet.
Sceen mumbles.
A Royal Guard removes the large black iron key from his belt.
You act: Rusty takes a deep breath.
You glance at Teru.
A Royal Guard unlocks the gate with his key.
Teru gazes at you.
A Royal Guard opens a wooden gate.
A Royal Guard heads through a wooden gate.
You whisper, 'No matter what... I will love you.' to Teru.
Teru pats you on the back.
Teru kisses you.

> go gate
[Malcomb Castle, Barthelgrimm Circle]
Within the center of the white stone circular drive lies a pattern of bluish-gray stone that spans out across the area, forming a large granite cross. In the center of the symbol, a tall statue observes the approach. Bordering the circle, an interlaced pattern of bluestones and white stones encircle the drive in a trim of knotwork. Off to the north, an enormous castle grandly rises above the craggy cliff of the dragyn bluff, while to the south, immense battling towers support the Great Gate and the imposing inner curtain wall. Also here is a Royal Guard.
The only obvious exit is north.

A Royal Guard closes a wooden gate.
A Royal Guard locks a wooden gate.
A Royal Guard hangs the large black iron key from his belt.
You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.
A Royal Guard looks you up and down.
You say, "Well, I guess it could be worse.."
A Royal Guard asks, "You have no hidden weapons miss?"
You say, "Eh, I have a couple of swords on me."
You say, "Nothing I can get to quickly in this getup."
You act: Rusty gestures to the heavy gown and cape in disgust.
You ask, "You want them?"
A Royal Guard says, "Keep your hands in the open please, and follow me."
A Royal Guard walks north.

[Malcomb Castle, Principal Entrance]
Standing before the handsome castle, one almost feels dwarfed while in her stately presence. From atop the high roof of the entryway twin stone faces peer down onto the approach. Beneath the deformed waterspouts, a long red canopied doorway is flanked by heavy wrought iron cressets that illuminate a set of lions that watch over the entrance. Beyond the circular drive, to the south, the imposing Great Gate's towers and high limestone wall resolutely guards the passageway into the castle proper. Also here is a Royal Guard.
The only obvious exit is south.

A Royal Guard opens a heavy iron pegged door and steps through the doorway.
> go door
You open the heavy iron pegged door and step through the portal.

[Malcomb Castle, Great Foyer]
Immense freestone walls support columns of clustered walnut shafts that stretch upward, forming the ribs of the high vaulted ceiling. On the south wall, three circular windows flood the anteroom with subdued hues of illumination. Further lighting the room are three wheel-shaped candelabras that stand between the rose windows. Mounted above a suit of armor, near the massive door, a purple gonfalon extends from the logonfalon extends from the lofty ceiling and hangs inches above the mosaic-tiled floor. Coade stonework enriches an archway that extends down the east wall. Also here is a Royal Guard.

A Royal Guard walks through a stone archway.
> go arch
You walk through the stone archway.

[Malcomb Castle, Grand Reception Area]
Intimate groupings of settees and armchairs are positioned beneath an arcade of windows that occupy the south wall. Gilded tables sit in the center of each cluster of furniture, reflecting the illumination of the bronze chandeliers that hang from the vaulted ceiling. In the center of the reception area, a bronze bust is showcased atop a large stone pedestal, which stands upon a tapestry rug. Further passage is extended via a stone-encatapestry rug. Further passage is extended via a stone-encased door and an aediculed set of doors, while a column-supported archway spans the length of the west wall. Also here is a Royal Guard.

A Royal Guard says, "Through the double doors please."
A Royal Guard strides through a set of double doors.
> go double doors
You pull open a set of double doors and walk over the stone threshold.

[Malcomb Castle, Great Hall]
Supported by inlaid stone columns, the lofty vaulted ceiling's ribs rise up from the gray stone walls and span across the immense rectangular hall's roof. Positioned at the head of the hall, a plaque has been mounted above a raised dais and its high table allows a commanding view of the low tables that have been arranged down the breadth of the chamber. Nestled in the furthest corner of the area, near the colonnof the area, near the colonnade, an elevated platform is flanked by vivid wall tapestries. Along the east wall, several windows rise above two arched fireplaces. Also here is a Royal Guard, Lady Ambassador Caritas, and a Royal Guard.

A Royal Guard comes to attention, sword tilted across the exit.
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods.
A Royal Guard nods to you.
A Royal Guard disappears in a puff of smoke.
You nod to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
A Royal Guard nods at his cloak of the royal guard.
A Royal Guard yawns and starts to nod off.
A royal guard arrives.
You say, "Madame, we meet again."
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "Hello Guard, Lady Violeta is it?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to you.
You say, "Just Rusty, if you would, Madame."
A Royal Guard asks, "No others came with you Guard?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Very well."
A Royal Guard peers at his cloak of the royal guard.
A Royal Guard opens his mouth as if to say something.
You say, "Violeta is the name my mother gave me at birth. And I never knew the lady, so.."
You shrug.
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods.
A Royal Guard says, "I was instructed to bring them one at a time."
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "Well will you follow me?"
You nod to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to a Royal Guard.
A Royal Guard says, "For safty."
Lady Ambassador Caritas walks over to you.
Lady Ambassador Caritas grabs you by the arm, motioning for you to follow.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Thank you guards, I shall take her from here."
A Royal Guard nods.
A Royal Guard nods.
A Royal Guard says, "I'll return to my post."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Yes please."
You glance at a Royal Guard.
Lady Ambassador Caritas walks through a colonnade.
You walk through a colonnade.

[Malcomb Castle, Corridor]
Gray stone walls support the barrel vaulted ceiling as well as the staircase that is built into the thickness of the granite walls. Flanking the series of steps, a sweeping arch accesses a regally furnished room while a spanning colonnade leads into a massive hall. On the opposite wall, a narrow passageway descends slightly, leading deeper into the castle. Near a door that resides on the east wall is a stone basin, while a perch has been mounted behind a west door entrance. Also here is Lady Ambassador Caritas.

Lady Ambassador Caritas walks into a crimson hued room.
You walk beneath an ornate archway and enter the room.

[Malcomb Castle, Crimson Drawing Room]
Numerous geminated ogival windows span the lengthy west wall, and spiraling candleholders have been placed between each set of arches that encase the panes of glass. Behind each candelabrum are opulently framed mirrors that reflect the lavishness of gold and the gilt ceiling. At the far end of the chamber, a silk tapestry hangs above a writing desk and chair, which are close to the archway. In front of the fireplace, a ladies chair and a chaise lounge face a cozily arranged group of settees and matching armchairs. You see The Crown Prince Vek (seated on a lounge). Also here is Lady Ambassador Caritas, Tralos, Shadeark, Merow, and Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan.

The Crown Prince Vek nods to Merow.
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to The Crown Prince Vek.
Shadeark gets a piece of yellow parchment from a cloak of the Imperial Guard.
Lady Ambassador Caritas curtsies.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "We shall finish later Guardsman."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you.
Merow says, "Yes your highness."
Merow snaps to attention.
Shadeark says, "Here it is."
You act: Rusty draws herself up.
You bow to The Crown Prince Vek.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "I present Lady Violeta Rusty James, she prefers Rusty."
Shadeark puts a piece of yellow parchment in his plain yellow knit purse.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Rusty it shall be then."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan nods to you politely.
You nod to Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan.
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "May we sit your highness?"
You say, "Your Majesty."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Please do."
Lady Ambassador Caritas seats herself in a mahogany ladies chair.
The Crown Prince Vek nods to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas points at a crimson settee.
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you.
Lady Ambassador Caritas smiles at you.
You act: Rusty takes a deep breath before sitting.
You seat yourself on a crimson settee.
You act: Rusty twists around uncomfortably, obviously not used to wearing a dress.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Okay now, if I understand correctly, you have some information you consider very valuable to the crown?"
The Crown Prince Vek smiles at you.
You say, "Yes, your majesty. And as I had explained in my missive, the information is for you and you alone."

Dyannah charges in on the back of a rare black unicorn, dismounts and flashes you a dazzling smile.
The unicorn steps back into the shadows.
Dyannah Avendale picks up and heads for home after a long day of adventuring.

[ Whoops. ]

The Crown Prince Vek gazes upwards to the heavens.
Lady Ambassador Caritas coughs.
You cough.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "We have ghosts in this castle."
You say, "Mmm."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "It comes with the great age."
You say, "Of course."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "We try to ignore them."
You say, "Mmm."
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to The Crown Prince Vek absently.

[ Nice save, though! ]

> l vek
Vek is a male human in his twenties, with sincere green eyes, a fair complexion and slightly-tousled short curly blonde hair.
The Crown Prince Vek is holding a crystal goblet in his right hand.
He is wearing some rugged woven leather sandals, a regal blue robe embroidered with a silver royal crest, and a form fitting white silk tunic.

The Crown Prince Vek says, "Now then, as you were saying."
You say, "I was saying that it is of the utmost import that I speak with you, my Lord."
You say, "Alone."
The Crown Prince Vek smiles at you.
You say, "Such information is meant only for your ears."
Merow winces.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "As much as I might wish to spend time alone with such a pretty lady."
Tralos narrows his eyes.
Lady Ambassador Caritas glances at you.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I fear my guards would never allow it."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "That is impossible."
Lady Ambassador Caritas shakes her head.
You gaze at your hand.
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you sadly.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "No sir."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Surely there is no one here, you suspect of endangering you?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas peers at you.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "What you say here will NOT be repeated."
You say, "I wish that I could say that to be true, Lord."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I can assure you of that."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Surely you wouldn't request we risk his highness' saftey."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "How selfish."
Lady Ambassador Caritas scoffs.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan stands quietly at attention.
You ask, "If I may request.. that your Captain, and the lady Caritas stay.. could the rest be dismissed, Lord?"
You say, "I beg you."
The Crown Prince Vek smiles softly at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "Never, Lady Caritas, never."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "I understood that Guardsman Merow had your trust?"
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Was I mistaken?"
The Crown Prince Vek peers at you.
You say, "That has recently come into question, Lord."
Merow gazes upwards to the heavens.
The Crown Prince Vek sighs softly.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "I fear we have nothing to hear from you then."
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "I won't consider it."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Well, I fear that your renown as a practioner of great magic has not gone unnoticed."
You raise an eyebrow in The Crown Prince Vek's direction.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "And as such, I have been required to maintain a certain number of guards."
You sigh.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan nods to The Crown Prince Vek.
You shake your head.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "Yes sir."
You say, "Very well, Lord."
You say, "I would say this before I say anything else.."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But I promise you, what you say here, will be treated with the utmost of confidence."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you.
You say, "..I ask, nay, I beg you, to keep in mind that sometimes people do things, Lord.. out of desperation.. out of mistaken assumption.."
You shake your head.
You say, "..that they regret later."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "So very true."
You say, "It is the nature of humanity."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you.
You say, "I beg you, Lord.. keep this in mind as my tale unfurls."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But, of course, all must be held responsible for these actions as well."
You say, "Aye, Majesty."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Carry on."
You act: Rusty takes a deep breath.
Lady Ambassador Caritas folds her hands in her lap.
The Crown Prince Vek sips some clear water from his crystal goblet.
You say, "Surely, as you have read my testimony taken by Guardsmen Merow, you know of which I speak before I speak it.."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "The subject matter, certainly."
You say, "There has been what you may consider.. a plot.. of conspiracy, against the Crown."
You gaze at your hand.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan shifts around.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "And how do you know of this conspiracy?"
You say, "You may have been informed the names of such conspirator.. and perhaps, even the leaders thereof.."
You act: Rusty straightens up fully.
You say, "Because I was a part of it."
Lady Ambassador Caritas blinks.
The Crown Prince Vek blinks.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan shifts his weight.
Lady Ambassador Caritas leans slightly to the right while sitting on the ladies chair.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Why?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas whispers something to The Crown Prince Vek.
The Crown Prince Vek nods to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "What has the crown ever done to you?"
You say, "Because we the people grow weary of being crushed beneath the royal boot, Lord."
Lady Ambassador Caritas gasps.
The Crown Prince Vek exclaims, "Crushed beneath the!"
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan glances at you.
You say, "We, the people, wish a voice that will carry to your ears.."
You say, "If you will allow me to finish, Lord."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Please, carry on."
Lady Ambassador Caritas shakes her head rapidly.
The air shimmers for a moment.
You feel a sudden chill.
You act: Rusty draws a deep breath.
You say, "I personally, believe there are things that go on, here in Kaezar.. that you are unaware of, Lord."
You say, "Taxation to the point of starvation, for one."
Lady Ambassador Caritas peers at The Crown Prince Vek.
You say, "Corruption within your own Guard, by certain members of it - by all means, do not reflect the entire Imperial Guard."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "We shall let her finish."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan stares at you.
You stare at Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan.
You say, "As I said, does NOT reflect the whole."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "She is here to speak Captain, please let her continue."
You say, "But it is there."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "Yes sir."
You say, "And the people suffer for it."
Merow stands quietly at attention, gazing silently at Rusty.
You shift your eyes to The Crown Prince Vek.
You say, "Some are loyal, Lord. But some, are loyal only to their own misused power."
Lady Ambassador Caritas glances at Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan.
You say, "So, such a plot, if you will, was hatched."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan shifts his weight.
You say, "And the ringleader was your own Tax Collector."
You say, "Rade."
The Crown Prince Vek blinks.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan raises an eyebrow.
Lady Ambassador Caritas coughs loudly.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Rade was, was... this is getting to be a bit much."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But, continue."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "I will have you know King Cedric the II and Rade's father were best of friends."
Lady Ambassador Caritas shakes her head.
You say, "I wouldn't know, Madame.."
You shift your eyes to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Obviously."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Alright, so at this point, if I may interupt just a moment?"
You say, "..But I do know that the Royal Tax collector would see his sister married to the Prince.."
You say, "..at any cost."
You say, "Including murder."
You shift your eyes to The Crown Prince Vek.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "The citizens are upset at too many taxes and bad guards. Evil guards."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "And they turn to the tax collector for help?"
You say, "Nay, Lord."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I thought I must have misunderstood."
You say, "The citizens, many, have petitioned for your audience, Lord. Their pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "You are here."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "As are others."
You say, "Aye, I am."
You nod.
You say, "But there are many more who are not."
You say, "And who have been in this town far longer than I."
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "Are you calling this highness deaf?"
The Crown Prince Vek swallows some clear water.
Lady Ambassador Caritas stands up.
You say, "I am not."
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "Your highness?"
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Sit M'Lady - I am now curious."
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods.
Lady Ambassador Caritas seats herself in a mahogany ladies chair.
You say, "I am saying that his majesty needs better advisors."
You stare at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Lets assume you believe all this to be true."
Lady Ambassador Caritas glances at The Crown Prince Vek.
You say, "I know it is true, Majesty."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "And so you thought to carry out a revolt?"
You say, "Rade himself hatched the plot with one I know. Called Teru."
You say, "It did not begin as such, Lord.. at least.."
You shake your head.
You say, "..not by my leave."
You say, "With the tax collectors sister on the throne, Lord.. his influence would be filtered down, through you, to Rade himself."
You say, "And, to others that had agreed to comply with this plan."
You say, "The assasination of your other.."
You cough.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Your highness please."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Rade would hardly need more influence in court, he collects our taxes."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan glances at you.
You say, "..choices, I believe, we called into question."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "This is all from a woman who demanded taxes of the crown itself to speak."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Why ever would he think to gain more. And to think I would marry his sister?"
The Crown Prince Vek chuckles.
You stand up.
The Crown Prince Vek nods to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
You say, "Yes."
You stare at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Sit please."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan stares at you.
The Crown Prince Vek glances at you.
You say, "I have been made a villian.."
You ask, "Why should I not act the part?"
Your body shakes uncontrollably.
You seat yourself on a crimson settee.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "You play it well."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "We are trying to be civil here, and I believe I am the one being accused."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "You heard his highness, sit please."
You shake your head.
You say, "Nay, I accuse you of nothing, Lord."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "If you accuse the realms of misconduct, you accuse me."
You say, "Only of being misinformed, and misled."
You shake your head.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "And perhaps my beloved Father."
You say, "You cannot be everywhere, all the time, Lord."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "She can't be serious! She stands there insulting you, the crown, the guard."
You say, "No one can."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I am responsble for all that goes on in the crowns namw."
You nod.
You say, "Which is why I am here."
You say, "You need to be aware of what goes on, Lord."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you slowly.
You say, "Your own tax collector spies upon you."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "For a fee of course."
You say, "And conspires against you."
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan nods to Lady Ambassador Caritas slowly.
You say, "As I said.. I have been villified, so I shall embrace what I have become."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Who has villified you?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "Why believe someone who takes the role so easily?"
You glance at Merow.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Sorry your highness."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "The guardsman, I was told, spoke most highly of you."
You say, "I fell in love, Lord."
You shift your eyes to The Crown Prince Vek.
You say, "With a "revolutionary" if you will."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Ah."
The Crown Prince Vek leans back while sitting on the lounge.
You say, "I thought his cause was just."
The Crown Prince Vek sighs sadly.
You say, "I see the people who are jailed, and mistreated, and abused by members of the Guard.."
You say, "And taxed to the point of their entire life savings being swallowed whole."
You say, "I myself was jailed."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "You must stop jumping to such conclusions."
You say, "Sir."
You say, "I myself was jailed for no more than speaking against such tyranny."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "You spoke much as you have today?"
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Perhaps to Lord Rade?"
You smile vaguely.
You say, "Aye, so I did."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Well, and were you in fact, beaten in jail?"
You say, "Nay, lord."
You say, "But I was able to bribe one of your guards to release me."
You smirk.
You say, "That should speak volumes."
You lean back while sitting on the crimson settee.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "About you as well."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I am confused."
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to The Crown Prince Vek.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan mumbles, "About yourself."
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
You chuckle.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Were you jailed unjustly? or released unjustly?"
You say, "This is why I wished to speak to you alone, Lord."
You say, "Both, Majesty."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Both."
The Crown Prince Vek glances at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas shakes her head.
You shrug.
You say, "There is no point in trying to hide anything from you.. I shall be hanged regardless.."
You say, "Or jailed.."
You say, "Or outcast."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Hanged."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Outcast."
The Crown Prince Vek sighs.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "What have you been told?"
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I think you are sadly mistaken."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I think you have fallen in with a rather bad crowd."
You say, "Perhaps, Lord."
You say, "Believe as you may, my motives began as just."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "This Teru fellow has harrassed my ex Governess - insulted her excessively."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan nods to The Crown Prince Vek slowly.
You stare off into the distance.
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "The Duchess is very much upset by his behavior. Why, if it had been left to him, this young woman of hers would still be trapped in that trunk."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But thats not why we are here."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "We are here, because you have changed your mind."
You glance at The Crown Prince Vek.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Because you no longer wish to be part of this conspiracy?"
You say, "I still wish to see change come, Lord. I will not lie."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "We all want that."
You say, "I wish to see justice served, and the people with a voice.."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I just don't happen to believe every tale I hear from the jails."
You say, "..and rights. More than what simple cattle have."
You say, "Nor should you."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan chuckles to himself.
You say, "But I will not attempt such by murder."
You say, "Or treason."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Well, I suppose there are days when I would like to let these town folks simply, oh vote say. Let them do what the majority thought best."
You say, "Revolution comes, Lord. No matter what happens today."
The Crown Prince Vek chuckles.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "It would more than serve them right."
You say, "A council of citizens, Lord.."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But, I have a responsibility NOT to allow that."
You say, "A voice to the nobles.."
You say, "Mmm."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "Anything but that, sir."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I meet with the nobles often."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "And the nobles. as far as i Know, entertain petitioners."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But I am not here, at the moment, to discuss changing the governing of the kingdom."
You lean back while sitting on the crimson settee.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Perhaps it can be entertained, after I have been crowned."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Let me be more direct."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Would you give evidence, before a judge, condemning this Teru and the other conspirators?"
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Are you willing to swear in public to thier crimes?"
You say, "So.."
You say, "You would have me outcast, or lynched anyway.."
You chuckle.
You shake your head.
You say, "I will testify against the conspirators.."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I would have something I can use, M'Lady."
You say, "..but I will see one thing in Teru's defense.."
The Crown Prince Vek nods slowly.
You say, "..he may be selfish. And he may have his own agenda.."
You say, "..but I believe, firmly, that this plot was not of his own device."
You say, "I know, in fact, that it was Rade himself that hatched it."
The Crown Prince Vek nods to you.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "One more question."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Do you have any more evidence, than your word? For surely, the conspirators will simply deny whatever you say."
You say, "There are.."
You say, "..witnesses, Lord."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Other conspirators who changed their mind?"
You raise an eyebrow.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Well, who else could have witnessed?"
You say, "I would not presume to label any but myself."
You say, "A man called Jurion.."
The Crown Prince Vek nods slowly.
You say, "Witnessed the discussion between Rade and Teru."
Lady Ambassador Caritas peers at The Crown Prince Vek.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Lady Caritas, make a note of that name for later?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Indeed."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I am much disturbed, both by your allegations and your actions. But, at the moment, I am assuming your heart was in the same place as mine. The good of the people."
The Crown Prince Vek peers at you.
You say, "It used to be, Lord."
Lady Ambassador Caritas places a hand on Vek's arm lightly.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Yes M'Lady?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "Used to be?"
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
You say, "That's right."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "And now?"
You say, "Now.."
You shift your eyes to The Crown Prince Vek.
You say, "..I have come to realize that the common good no longer exists."
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "And thus you care only of yourself?"
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan squints at you.
You shift your eyes to Lady Ambassador Caritas.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "So perhaps we should open the gates and let the orcs into town?"
You say, "Not at all, Sire."
You say, "But a self-less act, I have discovered, is more futile than letting the orcs run free."
You say, "Which is why I have asked for compensation for my testimony.. for being.."
The Crown Prince Vek smiles softly.
You say, ".. a 'loyal' citizen to the crown."
You ask, "Such is the way of politics, is it not, Lord?"
You peer at The Crown Prince Vek.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan shifts his weight.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Perhaps to some."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But in my short life, I have learned one thing over all."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "True loyalty is free your highness."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "That ones actions, in the end, are all one can be judged by."
You say, "Nothing is free, Madame."
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
You shift around radiantly.
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Not with you around."
You shift your eyes to The Crown Prince Vek.
You say, "Or inaction, Lord."
You ask, "Is it not so?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Or need to be paid to act."
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "Inaction, is that another accusation you make on my behalf?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to The Crown Prince Vek.
You say, "I hope not, Lord."
You say, "I truly hope not."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Very well, I have heard your testimony."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "And I am not hear to defend my actions."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Or inactions."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "To you. Or anyone at the moment."
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to The Crown Prince Vek agreeably.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Now as to the payment you demanded."
Lady Ambassador Caritas leans slightly to the right while sitting on the ladies chair.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I would have a revolt of no small import were I to elevate you to the nobility."
You lean back while sitting on the crimson settee.
The Crown Prince Vek asks, "And, I must ask, were i to give you the silver you ask now, what assurance do I have that you would still be here for a trial?"
You ask, "Where do I have to go, Lord?"
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Oh surely that is an additional fee."
You shake your head.
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas smiles politely at The Crown Prince Vek.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan chuckles to himself.
The Crown Prince Vek sips some clear water from his crystal goblet.
Lady Ambassador Caritas fidgets.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Okay, I shall grant you your silver, but now I want you to think on something."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "You will be judged, by others, by the gods, and mostly by yourself, by your words and more by your actions."
Lady Ambassador Caritas whispers something to The Crown Prince Vek.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "If you care more about others judgement, than you do of your own opinion, well, I fear you are doomed to a sad life."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "The gods, well we are all at their mercy I fear."
Lady Ambassador Caritas nods to The Crown Prince Vek agreeably.
You say, "Such self-assurance leads for a lonely life, Lord."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "But never ever let the voice of the vocal minority sway your own opinion of your self."
You say, "Perhaps here, in your castle, you do not know lonliness."
Lady Ambassador Caritas stares sadly at you.
You say, "With all these.."
You chuckle.
You say, "..people around you. Catering to your every whim."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "For it is ferrets like that, who think to improve their own lot in life, by making others feel smaller than they are."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "To say this to his highness after all his losses."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "And one other thing."
You glance at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Lady Ambassador Caritas asks, "How do you sleep at night?"
You ask, "And what do you know of mine?"
You ask, "Or I of yours?"
You open your mouth as if to say something.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "You must learn to Listen when your Prince speaks. Not all princes are as understanding as I."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan nods to Lady Ambassador Caritas slowly.
Lady Ambassador Caritas glares at you.
The Crown Prince Vek exclaims, "Ladies, enough!"
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Jargenen, take Rusty back to the room, and find her her coins."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "The first thing you lost was your heart."
You say, "That's right."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "Yes sir."
You say, "And I would say this.."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "As you wish sir."
You say, "..before I am escorted out."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "I expect you to be present, when and if the crown needs you."
You stand up.
You shift your eyes to The Crown Prince Vek.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "More demands, please, go ahead."
You say, "Nay, Lord.. only a parting farwell.."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "Follow me."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan walks into the corridor.
You say, "..because noble blood runs in your veins.. and a crown rests on your head.."
You say, "..does not make your heart any more breakable than anyone elses."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan enters via an ornate archway.
You say, "Now, I am done."
You stare at Lady Ambassador Caritas.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "I repeat myself, follow me."
You say, "Hang me if you will."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "Don't forget to pay her."
Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "She seems so hungry."
You smirk.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "If it will remove her from my sight, yes m'lady."
The Crown Prince Vek says, "No one is hanging you, stop begging to be martyed."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan says, "Now follow me."
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan nods to you.
Captain of the Royal Guard Jargenan walks into the corridor.
The Crown Prince Vek says, "Now please, the other audiences await."

Lady Ambassador Caritas says, "They don't charge us either."

You walk beneath an ornate archway and enter the room.

Further passage is extended via a stone-encased door and an aediculed set of doors, while a column-supported archway spans the length of the west wall. Also here is a Royal Guard.

Mounted above a suit of armor, near the massive door, a purple gonfalon extends from the lofty ceiling and hangs inches above the mosaic-tiled floor. Coade stonework enriches an archway that extends down the east wall.

You open the heavy iron-pegged door and step through the doorway.

The only obvious exit is south.

Narrow windows in rows of three run down both towers, while looming limestone walls, which flank the gatehouse, stretch gatehouse, stretch as far as the eye can see. You see an intricately carved staff. Also here is a Royal Guard, Lucilla (seated), Sceen, and Cedaven.
The only obvious exit is south.
