About That Donation

[Crossroads Inn, Common Room]
[You are seated on a wooden bench.]
Thinly varnished oak walls enclose this common room. Stretching along the back wall is a grimy datiawood bar, its wood counter warped from age and spilled drinks. An old, rather ornate chandelier is suspended from the ceiling and illuminates a menu that hangs over a small sign, which is tacked to a beam behind the bar. Wooden tables, chairs, benches and stools are scattered throughout the room, and a small lyre leans against a trash can, waiting to be played. Leading up to the second floor is a set of misshapen rickety stairs. You see Breen the barkeep. Also here is Jazzahn (kneeling), Kietal (seated), Dusty, Raeh, Denita, Sinjinn (seated with you), Deloria (seated on a wooden chair), and Valorian (seated on a wooden chair).

The aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air.

Muffled voices can be heard from nearby tables.
The only obvious exit is out.

Denita says, "Ohh jurion about that donation.... i have to make a trip to never first, to see a man about an issue... if any is left over... i'll split it with the temple and the house of compass."
You smile warmly at Denita.
You ask, "Emerald Jake?"
Denita nods.
Denita says, "Aye."
Sinjinn sighs happily.
You grin at Denita.
You say, "I hope he comes through for you."
Raeh asks, "Can I pry into what you'll be seeing him for?"
You ask, "Ask him to spare us an imperial, won't you?"
Raeh grins at Denita.
Denita says, "Hiring his help in the coming war."
Kietal asks, "How much are you going to pay him?"
Sinjinn sips some sweet saxumberry juice from her tall clear glass.
Raeh asks, "Ah, and you are hiring mercenaries?"
Raeh asks, "By gosh, where did you get the coin to do that?"
Denita says, "I was given 200 imperials by arkon for a war fund."
Raeh asks, "Arkon?"
Raeh scratches her head.
Kietal raises an eyebrow.
You say, "I'm jealous."
You act: Jurion swings his legs back and forth.
Denita says, "Traveling merchant i guess you could call em."
Kietal says, "I thought he was working for the orcs."
Raeh says, "A traveling mer-"
Raeh begins to move but hesitates.
Raeh clears her throat.
You say, "I suppose he isn't, if Denita's going to hire mercenaries for the crown with his coin."
Kietal nods.
Raeh ponders the situation.
You say, "Either that or he's going to have a nasty surprise."
Denita says, "Well things arent always as they seem... he said that if he wasnt already currently employed he'd be here to assist us."
Raeh frowns slightly.
Raeh says, "Wait a minute.... wait a minute."
You ask, "Are you going to tell Jake where you came by the money?"
Raeh says, "Let me get this straight."
Denita asks, "Should i?"
Raeh says, "This fellow, comes around, not in employ of the Crown.."
You ask, "Do you trust this Arkon fellow? Suppose you're just couriering the money to Jake for the orcs, and you don't know it?"
Denita says, "He is buying weapons for his employer."
Raeh says, "Gives you 200 imps to go hire mercenaries from the man Emerald Jake."
Denita says, "No he gave me 200 imperials to use as needed."
Denita says, "Merow suggested seeing jake."
Raeh says, "The same Emerald Jake who -"
Kietal says, "Don't tell him where you got the money, just in case."
Raeh asks, "Ah, what did he say when he gave you the money?"
Deloria stares off into the distance.
Valorian looks lost in thought.
Raeh says, "I mean.. I suppose he's rather loyal to the crown, then."
Raeh ponders the situation.
Denita says, "Well i refussed his first attempt at a donation... but when he tossed 200 imperials on the table here i couldnt say no."
Raeh nods to Denita agreeably.
Kietal nods.
Raeh says, "Of course."
Raeh says, "I think its a valid idea."
Raeh asks, "Who are you taking with you to see him?"
You ask, "Does anyone know how much this Jake is asking for?"
Denita says, "And if he wants to keep making donations like that... i am not going to argue."
Sinjinn sips some sweet saxumberry juice from her tall clear glass.
Denita says, "Aljeron and kahund and one other."
Raeh ponders the situation.
Kietal leans on a bar.
Deloria whispers something to Valorian.
Raeh shakes her head at you.
Valorian nods slowly.
You act: Jurion laces his fingers together.
Raeh says, "I have no idea where the fellow's establishment is."
You say, "I've been there a few times with Shala."
Kietal says, "Jake? He's out in Never."
Raeh says, "But I've heard its *green*"
You say, "The gambling's fair, but I think I prefer the Cat's Paw."
Kietal says, "Hence the name."
Kietal winks at Raeh.
You say, "It's excruciatingly green."
Raeh says, "But where in Never, I don't know."
You say, "We wouldn't be able to spot you if we left you in there."
Raeh says, "Now that one, Ive been in."
Kietal says, "Jake's way i think."
You grin at Raeh.
Raeh grins at you.
Denita says, "Dont recall knowing the other person that offered to come with us, but with aljeron and kahund it should be fairly safe to travel with that amount of coin."
You ask, "When are you going up, Denita?"
Denita says, "About an hour... when aljeron and kahund return from their errands."
Denita says, "Its a rough area... i am not overly comfortable there."
Raeh says, "I'd be in heaven."
You chuckle.
Kietal laughs.
Raeh asks, "Would you be terribly put out if I joined you, Denita?"
Denita says, "Nope."
Raeh says, "I've been wanting to see the place for weeks."
