[Eberk Lane, Kemstead]
Rolling hills are dotted with picturesque farms and small stone cottages to the east of this pretty lane. A thicket of fruit trees can be seen behind one farm on the side of a small hill about a stone's throw away. One errant apple tree casts its shade across the road, while its branches extend themselves towards the closest gate. You see a brown-spotted red apple. Obvious exits are northwest and southwest.

Green Apple Gables - Home of Duchess Sarafina
You go through the twisted wrought iron gate.
[Green Apple Gables, Kemstead]
An overgrown cobblestone path leads up to an old gray fieldstone cottage complete with thatched roof. A pair of arched wood doors, the perfect shade of apple green are flanked by two elegant stone benches. Each of the tiny gabled windows has an overflowing flower box painted to match the entry. There is a single iron gate in the twisted deep green ambergris fence bordering the cottage.
The sweet scent of fairy-slippers mingled with apple tickles your nose.
You knock on a set of double doors.
You act: Jurion tucks his thumbs into his belt.
You furrow your brow.
You look up at the sky.
[In the Sky]
Slightly to the west, a sliver of Tempest peeks out at you.
A sea of stars fills the heavens with light.
You shift your weight.
You knock on a set of double doors.
You open your mouth as if to say something.
You mutter, "I hope it's not too late."
You knock on a set of double doors.
You loiter around a bit.
You say, "Hm."
You say, "P'raps I could leave a note."
You get a piece of yellow parchment from your embossed leather scroll pouch.
You get a cream-toned plumed quill from your embossed leather scroll pouch.
You sit down on a stone bench.

You begin to write on a piece of yellow parchment with a cream-toned plumed quill.
You are writing in the Common tongue.

My Lady Sarafina,
Forgive me for the hasty lettering, but the hour is late and I fear you are out, for no one answers my knock. I have learned of a conspiracy brewing among the citizens of Kaezar, headed by the darkelf known as Teru - - an unpleasant fellow whom I believe you are already acquainted with.
Yesterday, on the 27th of Thistle, a young friend of mine overheard Teru and a companion discussing some rather startling subjects in the Town Green. It is my duty to tell you, my lady, that this Teru spoke quite frankly of revolution against the nobility, and wishes to arrange for your arrest on some sort of false charges, as he bears you a considerable degree of ill will for his treatment at the hands of the Guard, despite the apology you so graciously offered to him.
I believe the danger to your person cannot be underestimated, as Teru has gained an ally in the person of Tax Collector Rade. It is my understanding that Teru and Rade met secretly in the common room of the Silver Tankard on Witchespax evening. Rade was heard to say such things as, "I win, you win," " I expect not to hear rumors of myself and this conversation around town," and (more alarmingly), "Don't worry about your tax bill."
Junior Guardsman Merow Ghurak has been informed of these events, and I hope his report reaches you through his chain of command. Please, my lady, investigate this darkelf and speak to Merow. He knows the young girl who witnessed these events and can describe them to you more accurately than I.
Faithfully yours,
Jurion Tamerlaine
You put a cream-toned plumed quill in your embossed leather scroll pouch.
You knock on a set of double doors.
You say, "Blast."
You pace back and forth, obviously frustrated.
The set of double doors won't budge.
You nod.
> look window
Closed white lace curtains block view inside this triangular window.
You say, "Pity you haven't a letter box..."
You roll up your piece of yellow parchment.
You stand up.
You pace back and forth.
You knock on a set of double doors.
You loiter around a bit.
You tap a set of double doors.
You fidget.
You act: Jurion frets.
You idly pick your piece of yellow parchment.
You knock on a set of double doors.
You knock on a set of double doors.
Traiver the Housecarl marches into the area.
You emote: Jurion sighs in relief.
Traiver the Housecarl asks, "Good evening, may i help you?"
You say, "I'm very sorry to disturb you at this hour."
You ask, "Would you be so kind as to give this to the Duchess?"
You offer your piece of yellow parchment to Traiver the Housecarl.
You say, "It's rather important, I'm afraid."
You worry.
Traiver the Housecarl scratches his chin.
Traiver the Housecarl glances at his hands.
Traiver the Housecarl slings his imperial issue steel shield over his shoulder.
Traiver the Housecarl accepts your offer.
Traiver the Housecarl asks, "And this tis what?"
You say, "Please, sir. If you tell her it's from Jurion, she should know me."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "I will certainly do so."
Traiver the Housecarl asks, "Is she in danger?"
You say, "I rather hope not, but it's a possibility."
You frown.
Traiver the Housecarl asks, "Do i need to read this myself?"
Traiver the Housecarl raises an eyebrow.
You say, "If you are responsible for her safety, certainly."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "That responsibility is my sole purpose in life."
Traiver the Housecarl unrolls his piece of yellow parchment.
You nod to Traiver the Housecarl.
You say, "I hope I am overreacting, but... Given all she's done for me, it wasn't something I could idly let pass by."
Traiver the Housecarl asks, "Are you certain you want your name tacked to this?"
You ask, "If I do not, how will she know it's from someone she can trust?"
Traiver the Housecarl nods to you.
Traiver the Housecarl says, "I understand."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "This is of major risk to yourself."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "Rade is a highly respected officer."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "And if these accusations are not correct.."
You say, "Er. Yes, unfortunately, and he doesn't think much of me anyhow."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "That is treasonous, punishable by death."
You bite your lip.
Traiver the Housecarl asks, "Did you actually hear these things?"
You say, "No, but as I noted, I know the girl who did."
You say, "If you speak to Junior Guardsman Merow, he can give you full details."
You say, "I can bring the girl to see you, as well."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "I do worry for her safety."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "Merow brought this matter to my attention last eve."
Traiver the Housecarl nods to you.
Traiver the Housecarl says, "I believe you should bring her."
You nod slowly.
You say, "All right."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "This is a very delicate situation."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "You have no idea of what Rade is capable of."
You say, "I'm glad he did. I was afraid it would get lost in the paperwork."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "He knocked late, but i awoke."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "And we spoke on the matter."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "And the Duchess is aware."
You say, "You have no idea how relieved that makes me."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "But with all of the events going on in the palace, this must be handled delicately."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "If you could bring her to me, that would help."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "I'm certain that i am trustworthy."
You say, "I don't know where the girl might be at this hour, but as soon as I see her, I will do so. Or Merow will do so, she trusts him as well."
Traiver the Housecarl nods to you.
You say, "Thank you for hearing me out."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "And thank you for delivering this."
You nod to Traiver the Housecarl.
Traiver the Housecarl says, "I shall see the Duchess receives it, quickly."
You say, "I hope you can get to the bottom of it. That veckle Rade..."
You shake your head.
Traiver the Housecarl smirks slightly.
You say, "Thank you, sir."
You bow to Traiver the Housecarl.
Traiver the Housecarl says, "I, of course, can not comment on that, but.."
Traiver the Housecarl nods to you.
Traiver the Housecarl bows to you.
Traiver the Housecarl says, "And thank you sir."
You say, "I won't trouble you any further this evening."
You say, "Unless I find her, that is."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "Tell your friend, she's in great danger."
You scratch your chin.
You say, "I will."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "Bring her to me as soon as you find her."
Traiver the Housecarl says, "And we will figure this out."
Traiver the Housecarl nods to you.
You say, "All right. Thank you again."
You throw open the iron gate and go through.
