Two Little Starved Bodies

You hear Merow yelling, "Alright, come on out of the wagon." from the north.
You hear Kot yelling, "Come on out or this gharkin'll rip you apart!.." from the north.

> n
[City of Kaezar, Avanil Way, Town Green]
Cutting a straight-away through a wide stretch of meadow-like green, the rutted road passes between the river to the east and a distant row of shops to the west. Trees dot the scythe-cut grass, which is crisscrossed by dirt paths made by the constant foot traffic. You see some ragged purple leathers, a covered wagon, a chintz-lined picnic basket, a simple backpack, an ox, an ox, and an Imperial guardsman. Also here is Sergeant Merow, Kot, and Paltheis.
Obvious exits are northwest, northeast, west, east, south, and north.

Merow says, "I'm sure that will work well."
Kot says, "That should help."
You say, "You know, we can hear you all the way in Breen's."
Merow gazes upwards to the heavens.
Merow says, "I have a loud voice."
Kot grins at you.
Merow nods to you.

> l in basket
In the chintz-lined picnic basket is a small crystal flask, two chunks of spicy cheese, and a basket of fresh red strawberries.

Kot walks over to an ox.
Kot leans on an ox.
Merow says, "And Kot has an obnoxious one. Both carry fairly well."
Kot pokes an ox.
Merow nods.
You say, "This is true."
Kot glances at Merow and mutters something under his breath.
You say, "May want to watch there, Kot, the hairfeet say those things don't like strangers."
An ox looks around nervously.
Paltheis nods.
Kot attempts to retreat.
Kot moves to a stone's throw from the ox and Paltheis.
Kot coughs.
You act: Jurion peers into a chintz-lined picnic basket.
You say, "Someone's been at the food at the very least."
You act: Jurion lifts one shoulder in an idle shrug.
Merow says, "That's something anyhow."
Paltheis says, "You must allow the Ox's to smell your hand."
Merow glances at an Imperial guardsman.

> l guard
The Imperial guardsman is a human in his mid-thirties with cold, calculating eyes which stare straight ahead, a cruel tilt to his thin lips and a low forehead.
An Imperial guardsman is holding a simple corinthian axe in his right hand.
He is wearing a cloak of the Imperial Guard, some highly-polished black leather boots, a burnished dagger case, some deep blue breeches, and a feathered cap.

Kot says, "Hell no."
Paltheis extends his hand towards the Ox, beneath his nose.
Kot says, "What if one of'em bites you."
You say, "I don't think they're that dangerous, but who knows."
Paltheis says, "Then they do... but if they get accustomed to your scent and a calming presence, they will react well to you."
Kot scratches his chin.
Paltheis gently scratches an Ox behind its ears.
Merow says, "They don't appear to be coming out."
Kot scratches his cheek.
Merow says, "Slightly disconcerting."
Paltheis says, "I would think they'll be around at the same time they were last night."
Kot says, "You're very observant."
Kot grins.
Paltheis says, "Their sleeping schedule has been atrociously messed up."
Kot rolls his eyes.
You act: Jurion tucks his thumbs into his belt.
Merow says, "I do hope nothing got to them."
Kot says, "You're going senile."
Kot mutters.
Merow glances at an Imperial guardsman.
You say, "That's an unpleasant thought."
Paltheis says, "And your mouth is proving your young age."
Paltheis boxes Kot's ear.
You act: Jurion eyes a wagon uneasily.
Fyren chuckles softly.
Kot smirks.
Merow says, "It's locked from the inside."
Kot says, "You can tell i'm young by how good I look."
Paltheis says, "Now, you come out of the shadows."
Paltheis flails at Fyren.
Merow says, "So if something did get to them, we won't be knowing about it anytime soon."
Kot says, "Please.. just break down the friggin' door."
Kot says, "This isn't exactly a vault."
Merow says, "The door's pretty bloody solid."
Kot says, "That's why you have axes."
Kot gets a polished bronze throwing axe from a studded deep purple leather harness.
Kot says, "Well.. this isn't the best axe for the job."
Kot says, "But.."
Kot offers his polished bronze throwing axe to Merow.
Merow grins wryly.
Kot says, "Should do it."
Paltheis flails his arms about.
Merow asks, "Bronze?"
Paltheis says, "DO not destroy their property."
Kot says, "Oh, shut up."
Kot mutters.
Paltheis says, "Unless you are going to pay them out of your own pocket Kot."
Kot says, "They were smuggling orcs into town in that thing."
Kot says, "And now they're refusing to come out."
Paltheis asks, "Kot... if Xelian was taken, and you knew that there was nothing you could do to save her... would you do what the captors said?"
Kot puts a polished bronze throwing axe in his studded deep purple leather harness.
Merow says, "Paltheis, I know you're trying to be helpful, but please try not to give orders. If I chose to break down their door I'd be well within my right to."
Paltheis stares at Kot.
You smile slightly.
Merow says, "You think we should excuse them for attempting to bring orcs into the town."
Kot says, "I wouldn' get into a stupid situations like that... and I sure as hell wouldn't lock myself in a friggin' box on wheels."
Merow grins wryly at Paltheis.
Kot says, "Box on wheels."
Paltheis says, "I can speak as I please Merow."
Kot scratches his chin.
Kot says, "Hmm."
Merow gazes upwards to the heavens.
Paltheis says, "You seem to be make enough of your own orders, to those that are not guards."
Merow says, "I think you might be right." to Kot.
Merow grins wryly.
Paltheis sighs.
Merow says, "I'll have to consult with Top about this a bit later."
Paltheis leans on his curved walnut wood staff.
Kot carefully begins to inspect the covered wagon.
Paltheis leans on his curved walnut wood staff.
Merow raises an eyebrow in Kot's direction.
Merow says, "I'm fairly sure it hasn't been tampered with."
Kot says, "I'm jes' looking."
Kot shrugs.
Kot says, "Figure... box on wheels can still be opened."
Merow says, "We'll have to come back."
Merow shrugs.
Kot says, "You should just get a locksmith."
Merow says, "They obviously aren't coming out."
You say, "One could cut through the roof if it was really important."
You say, "It's just canvas."
Merow nods to you.
Kot grins.
Merow tries to open the door on the wagon, but it appears stuck in place.
You say, "I'm sure you'll get them out sooner or later."
Merow scratches his chin.
Kot walks over to a covered wagon.
Kot pokes a covered wagon.
Kot shakes a covered wagon.
Kot mutters.
Kot says, "That should wake'em up."
Merow says, "If not, we'll find two starved little bodies in their in about a month."
You cough.
You chuckle.
Merow says, "Although I'm rapidly losing patience with them."
Paltheis pets an ox lovingly.
Merow shrugs.
Sergeant Merow walks south.
Kot grins.
Paltheis grumbles.
You ponder a covered wagon.
Kot says, "There goes my money."
Kot mutters.
Kot walks south.
Paltheis shakes his head.
You smile wryly.
