The Bad Good Ones

[Kemstead Wilds, Under the Willow]
Deep within the veil of russet and golden leaves, the branches of an aged drael willow form a sheltering curtain around an old stone bench. Carpeted with soft green moss and fallen leaves, the ground is covered by a tangle of the willow's shallow roots, while lacy-leafed vines trail over the uneven ground behind the bench.

The moist air of this leafy sanctuary smells vaguely of mint.
You settle onto the bench feeling the cool mossy surface against your hand.
You get a piece of yellow parchment from an embroidered deep red leather pouch.
You open a sleek black leather scroll pouch.
You get a cream-toned plumed quill from a lacquered box.
Your eyes glaze over momentarily.
You feel a sudden chill.
You raise an eyebrow.
A whisper reaches your ear, "The jhakor will be at your gathering tonight"
You hear muffled voices and the clinking of equipment as people pass, unseen, along the Abbey Road.
You act: Jurion flinches slightly.
You say, "Very well. I have instructions."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "They will target yourself and the one known as Saebra."
You smile slightly.
You say, "Good. If they speak of Ghuk, that would be even better."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "For obvious reasons."
You say, "I require a messenger boy later this evening."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant ask, "Oh?"
You say, "If it can be arranged. I have a message to be delivered to Saebra later, but the circumstances are delicate."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant ask, "What message?"
You chuckle.
You say, "I should rather not recite it. It may help implicate her."
You say, "If I can convince the others that this alliance is a ruse... that this attack tonight is against me, because I spoke against it..."
You say, "And if I can give her this note implying that she is being paid by your forces, I may then be able to disrupt it, or at least give myself an excuse to attack Ghuk."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "Ironic."
You say, "It would be easier if they did not target Saebra this evening."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "You imply that she is being paid by us."
You say, "Yes."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "There is irony in that."
You say, "If she is attacked, I can reword the note slightly to imply that it was necessary to continue her charade."
You shrug.
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant ask, "Can you not find your own messanger?"
You say, "The people in this town..."
You say, "It would be simpler if I had the services of a boy. If I must, I must."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "I will see what I can do."
You say, "Very well. It need not be tonight, only before Ghuk arrives."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant ask, "Any other questions?"
You say, "I wonder why you don't simply wipe out the pestilent beasts."
You stand up.
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "Easier to simply use them as fodder."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "Why waste orcish lives if we don't need to."
You say, "You have us to do that work for you."
You chuckle.
You say, "One last thing."
You say, "If I can find no other way to deal with Ghuk other than simply walking up to him and slaying him outright, I will hold my blade. I have a reputation to maintain, and I am not known as a hotheaded fool."
You say, "I imagine you have other agents. Use them. I can only do so much for two imperials."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "That is understandable, it is more of an advantage you don't break the charade."
You say, "I should go and arrange our darts."
You hear the voice of an orcish sergeant say, "Yes. Do that."

[The Tipsy Scholar, Pub Room]
A long oak bar meanders down the right side of this wood-paneled pub. Under the bar, a brass footrest invites patrons to "belly up", and over an old wooden barrel, a neatly lettered drink list has been tacked to the wall. Scattered around, a few small tables and chairs are provided to allow people to relax with their pints and drams. A dart board has been nailed to the wall adjacent to the bar, and hanging under the board is a pouch filled with darts and a chalkboard for keeping score. On the wood slates of the floor is a painting.
You see Jael. Also here is Saebra and Malikayl (seated on a makeshift wooden chair).

Ale and beer mingle with the strong odor of the King's own.
The only obvious exit is out.

You say, "Anyone want something to drink? Everyone's so quiet."
Illuriel grins at you.
Saebra glances at Malikayl.
Malikayl stands up.
Saebra says, "Waiting for him to take his shot."
Saebra grins at you.
You chuckle.
Malikayl tosses his dart at the board, just hitting the outer circle. 1 point.
Saebra reaches in and gets an orange feathered dart from the dart pouch.
You get a few sovereigns from an embroidered black leather pouch.
Illuriel says, "I'll have some mead if you're buying."
Malikayl laughs!
Illuriel leans on you.

[ Dart-throwing, giggling, hugging, smooching, whispering, leaning, the typical fare with these folks. Raeh and Shadeark come in, the dart game concludes, and the warriors appear. ]

Raeh says, "How much I appreciate you taking me to Never that night shortly after my return."
Saebra reaches in and gets a red feathered dart from the dart pouch.
Saebra tosses her dart at the board. Bullseye, 5 points!
Illuriel smiles at Raeh.
Illuriel hugs Raeh.
Raeh says, "I may have been distant, but it meant a lot."
Raeh walks over to a makeshift wooden chair.
Raeh hugs Illuriel.
Raeh smiles.
Malikayl says, "Im a poor loser ya know." to Saebra.
Malikayl reaches in and gets a silver feathered dart from the dart pouch.
Saebra grins at Malikayl.
You sip some saxumberry gin from your small squat glass.
You tale a gulp of gin and feel a tingle right down to your toes.
Saebra tosses her dart at the board. Bullseye, 5 points!
Shadeark brushes his hair, making it shine and gleam.
Illuriel grins knowingly at you.
Illuriel is overcome by a giggling fit.
Malikayl mutters.
Shadeark closes a threaded ivory leather sack.
Malikayl sips some hot robust coffee from his stoneware mug.
Saebra walks over to Malikayl.
Saebra pats Malikayl on the back.
You stick your tongue out at Illuriel.
From outside, the sound of snarling and growling rumbles through the door.
Jael shouts out, "Toby!", and the barks subside.

Written on the chalkboard are the current players and scores.

Malikayl: 40
Saebra: 52

If you wish to play a new game, perhaps you should rub off the old scores and touch the chalkboard to sign your own names.

Malikayl says, "Warm up game."
Saebra says, "Thank you for the game."
Malikayl nods knowingly.
Saebra grins at Malikayl.
Illuriel winks playfully at you.
Two jhakor warriors walk in
You say, "All right, Illie..."
A burly jhakor warrior scowls.
Illuriel opens her mouth as if to say something.
Saebra glances at a burly jhakor warrior.
Illuriel peers at a burly jhakor warrior.
Malikayl draws his shining low-steel scythe from his dark leather baldric.
A burly jhakor warrior runs in.
A burly jhakor warrior runs in.
Raeh stands up.
Saebra peers at a burly jhakor warrior.
A jhakor hunter runs in.
A jhakor hunter runs in.
You put a small squat glass on a small table.
Shadeark says, "This is either good or not good."
A burly jhakor warrior points at you.
A burly jhakor warrior exclaims, "Him!"
A burly jhakor warrior points at Saebra.
Raeh glances at a burly jhakor warrior.
A burly jhakor warrior exclaims, "Not her!"
Malikayl walks over to a makeshift wooden chair.
Saebra says, "Hold still."
Malikayl moves to intercept a burly jhakor warrior.
You open your mouth as if to say something.
Raeh frowns.
You ask, "Saebra...?"
Malikayl moves to intercept a burly jhakor warrior.
A burly jhakor warrior attacks Malikayl with his barbed jhakor fael!
Malikayl looks towards the heavens.
Illuriel says, "Ummm."
Saebra says, "Stand still, Jurion."
Raeh says, "What the..."
You stand up.
Saebra gets a black-iron dagger from an inlaid darach thigh sheath.
Saebra gets a black-iron dagger from an inlaid darach thigh sheath.
A burly jhakor warrior attacks Malikayl.
(barbed jhakor fael) hit threshhold : 47 d100: 17
Malikayl parries the blow with his shining low-steel scythe.
Malikayl calls upon the power of the Gods to bring peace to this area.
Malikayl traces a mystical pattern on the decorated wood slats with the tip of his finger.

As he finish, the pattern suddenly glows with a brilliant golden radiance and even the air seems to grow still as a feeling of peace and utter harmony pervades the area.
Saebra walks over to Malikayl.
A burly jhakor warrior throws his barbed jhakor fael at you!
hit!
... 25 points of damage!
Strike to belly leaves you twitching.

Malikayl says, "No."
You swear.
The burly jhakor warrior advances into melee with you.
Malikayl gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Raeh exclaims, "Jurion!"
Saebra whips her black-iron dagger at a burly jhakor warrior!
hit!
... 36 points of damage!
Hard shot tears a chunk out of a burly jhakor warrior's torso.

You draw your intricately engraved low-steel broadsword from your oiled black sheath.
Malikayl calls upon the serenity of the heavens as he intones, "In Pax".
[d100(open) = 48] Very Close Attempt!
A burly jhakor warrior immediately shakes off the calm.

Saebra picks up a black-iron dagger.
Raeh pulls you towards her.
Illuriel glances at her hands.
A jhakor hunter hurls his jhakor spine at you!
hit!
... 24 points of damage!
Quick blow is short... pokes lower back.
The tip of the spine is imbedded in you and falls to decorated wood slats where it finishes disintegrating.
Raeh asks, "What is the meaning of this?"
Saebra picks up a perfectly-balanced low-steel dagger.
You feel nauseous.
...You take 1 concussion point of damage!
Round Time: 1 seconds.
A burly jhakor warrior struggles against his bonds to no avail.
A burly jhakor warrior is unable to break free!
Saebra says, "They are the bad ones."
You cough up some blood.
...You take 6 concussion points of damage!
Round Time: 2 seconds.

[ Lots more fighting, during which Saebra is yelling futile commands at everyone, Raeh dies, Shadeark dies, and Khregen comes in and joins the fighting. Finally all the jhakor are dead but one. ]

A dart board has been nailed to the wall adjacent to the bar, and hanging under the board is a pouch filled with darts and a chalkboard for keeping score. On the wood slates of the floor is a painting.
You see the severed hand of a human, the corpse of Shadeark with a carved kirchewood hand mirror on it, two corpses of a jhakor hunter, a tall thraelware mug, the corpse of Raeh with some stuff on it, four barbed jhakor faels, five corpses of a burly jhakor warrior, a jhakor hunter, and Jael. Also here is Shadeark, Sergeant Khregen, Malikayl (kneeling), Saebra, and Illuriel (standing on a makeshift wooden chair).

Ale and beer mingle with the strong odor of the King's own.
The only obvious exit is out.

Saebra says, "Hold."
A jhakor hunter gasps.
You pant.
Illuriel begins to meditate.
Shadeark coughs.
A jhakor hunter exclaims, "No fight!"
Illuriel concentrates upon staunching the flow of her blood.
Saebra nods to a jhakor hunter.
Saebra says, "Good one."
Khregen puts a sharp low-steel longsword in his engraved brass scabbard.
Shadeark searches the corpse of Shadeark.
The corpse of Shadeark rots away into nothingness.
Saebra sheaths a dark jagged-edged scimitar in her inlaid darach thigh sheath.
Saebra asks, "What happened?"
Saebra peers at a jhakor hunter.
Saebra sheaths a dark jagged-edged scimitar in her inlaid darach thigh sheath.
You gasp.
Saebra pants.
Using a stray bit of cloth, you carefully bind your chest.
Khregen says, "Sorry if'n I hit ye der."
A jhakor hunter says, "Bad good ones have plan to come here."
A jhakor hunter says, "I tag with."
Saebra nods to a jhakor hunter.
A jhakor hunter says, "See why."
A jhakor hunter says, "Not know why."
Malikayl leans on his shining low-steel scythe.
A jhakor hunter says, "Want to fight Man."
A jhakor hunter points at you.
A jhakor hunter says, "Not Man."
Saebra asks, "How did they know about him and me?"
A jhakor hunter points at Saebra.
Malikayl peers at you.
Illuriel asks, "What is going on?"
You ask, "Why??"
Malikayl asks, "Why you?"
Saebra says, "Not me."
Saebra asks, "Jurion?"
Illuriel raises an eyebrow.
Saebra peers at you.
A jhakor hunter says, "Not know."
Shadeark says, "You are popular with them it seems."
A jhakor hunter says, "Just know need to not fight Man."
Illuriel puts a blessed coin in her threaded ivory cotton pouch.
Illuriel reaches out and places her hand on your chest.
As Illuriel heals your chest the bandage disentegrates into the air. A sickly red substance pours out of your open wound and seeps into the ground.
Illuriel transfers your wound to her chest.
A jhakor hunter says, "No Man."
You wince.
Khregen says, "Illie dat un's hand is hurt when ye git a chance."
Saebra nods to a jhakor hunter.
Khregen points at a jhakor hunter.
A jhakor hunter says, "Bad good ones want Man dead."
A jhakor hunter points at you.
Saebra says, "He is hurt, Illie."
Saebra asks, "Can you heal him?"
Malikayl gets back on his feet.
A jhakor hunter says, "Want Man live."
A jhakor hunter points at Saebra.
Illuriel says, "Give me on second."
Illuriel says, "One."
Saebra asks, "Want me to live?"
You ask, "Why the blazes... who are the bad good ones, Saebra?"
A jhakor hunter nods.
A jhakor hunter says, "Not know more."
Illuriel reaches out and places her hand on a jhakor hunter's left hand.
Illuriel transfers a jhakor hunter's wound to her left hand.
Saebra asks, "Why would they want you dead?"
Malikayl says, "Id help you Illie...i cant cast right now."
Saebra peers at you.
Illuriel writhes with the pulsating agony which emanates from her regrowing right hand.
Illuriel bites her lip so hard that blood dribbles down her chin.
Illuriel is stunned!
A jhakor hunter exclaims, "Must run!"
You ask, "Who are the bad good ones?"
You flail your arms about.
A jhakor hunter walks out.
Malikayl peers at his surroundings.
Saebra pants.
Malikayl leans on his shining low-steel scythe.
Raeh just walked through the door.
Raeh pants rapidly, trying to regain her breath.
Illuriel says, "It's alright, Malikayl."
Illuriel winces painfully.
Raeh peers at Illuriel.
Raeh furrows her brow.
Shadeark says, "At least they were not after me."
Khregen says, "Seems I missed sumptin."
Raeh asks, "Can I help anyone?"
Saebra says, "Ok. Hold on."
Illuriel's left hand has been healed.
Illuriel begins to meditate.
Raeh asks, "Is anyone still hurt?"
Malikayl nods to Raeh.
Raeh asks, "What happened?"
Malikayl says, "My head."
You lean on your intricately engraved low-steel broadsword.
Saebra says, "Bad good ones are the ones who will side with the King."
You say, "The bad good ones want you alive."
Raeh frowns.
Raeh asks, "Who were those Jhaktor?"
Saebra says, "The ones who want us dead and possibility of alliance destroyed. This makes no sense."
Illuriel winces painfully.
Malikayl blinks.
You ask, "And they want me dead? Why?"
Malikayl advances to a stone's throw from Illuriel.
Saebra asks, "Why keep me alive and kill you?"
Saebra peers at you.
Raeh asks, "Why did they point at you, Saebra? And Jurion?"
You open your mouth as if to say something.
Malikayl advances to a stone's throw from Illuriel.
Raeh frowns.
Malikayl furrows his brow.
Saebra says, "They said not to kill me."
Saebra says, "To kill Jurion."
You exclaim, "I'm supposed to know this? You're the jhakor expert, Saebra!"
Raeh peers at Saebra.
You exclaim, "All I wanted to do was play darts!"
Illuriel's right hand has been healed.
Raeh asks, "Did they know Ghuk?"
Malikayl asks, "Wheres my coffee?"
Saebra says, "The last one who helped us did."
Saebra nods to Raeh.
Malikayl frowns.
Using a stray bit of cloth, Raeh carefully binds her head.
Saebra furrows her brow.
Khregen says, "Mighty strange dat dey would come inte de village like dat."
Saebra asks, "Why keep me alive?"
Saebra asks, "And kill you?"
Raeh says, "Because you're the negotiator."
Raeh says, "You'll make sure this filthy alliance goes through."
Saebra asks, "But why would the bad ones want me alive then?"
Raeh mutters under her breath.
Shadeark says, "They made me drop my mirror."
Shadeark picks up a carved kirchewood hand mirror.
Malikayl peers at Illuriel.
You ask, "I haven't said anything for this alliance, I've been speaking against it. Why would they attack me?"
Raeh exclaims, "Think about it, Saebra!"
Shadeark dusts off his mirror.
Saebra says, "Unless..."
Illuriel glances at Malikayl.
Malikayl walks over to a makeshift wooden chair.
Malikayl struggles to pull Illuriel to her feet.
Illuriel asks, "What?"
Shadeark opens a threaded ivory leather sack.
Saebra shakes her head.
Illuriel stands up.
Shadeark puts a carved kirchewood hand mirror in his threaded ivory leather sack.
Raeh rubs her head.
Shadeark closes a threaded ivory leather sack.
Malikayl nods.
Illuriel sways slightly from side to side.
Shadeark says, "They were confused."
Malikayl looks towards the heavens.
Saebra says, "No, Shadeark."
Saebra says, "I do not believe they were."
Raeh says, "Sorry, I'm just shaken up."
Saebra says, "Think it over."
Raeh shudders.
Saebra says, "The bad ones keep me alive."
Raeh asks, "Anyone else need nay help?"
Malikayl peers at his surroundings.
Saebra says, "Which makes it seem as though they wish this alliance pushed through."
Raeh nods.
Saebra says, "The bad ones that is. Discredits and undermines the entire alliance."
Illuriel's chest has been healed.
Raeh says, "Looks that way."
Saebra asks, "But, why you?"
Saebra peers at you.
You ask, "So why would they be attacking me??"
Illuriel rubs you gently.
Raeh says, "He seems to be somewhat against it."
Raeh says, "Or seemed to be at the meeting."
Khregen says, "How would ey know dat."
Raeh says, "Someone at the meeting maybe is an informant."
Raeh says, "That makes the most sense."
Illuriel begins to meditate.
Saebra says, "No, Lady Raeh."
Saebra says, "Someone at that meeting is definitely an informant."
Malikayl asks, "Ale anyone?"
Malikayl opens a jeweled ivory burlap pouch.
Raeh furrows her brow.
Saebra mumbles some obscenities.
Raeh asks, "But who?"
Shadeark walks over to a small table.
Malikayl hands Jael some money.
Jael bends over the bar and pours a measure of ale into a wide-brimmed mug. He hands it over to Malikayl with a wink.
Jael gives Malikayl his change.
You ask, "Who else was reluctant?"
Shadeark leans on a small table.
Raeh says, "Well, let's think."
Malikayl closes a jeweled ivory burlap pouch.
Khregen says, "Let me git dis straight."
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
Raeh asks, "Who was the most FOR the alliance?"
Raeh asks, "Wouldnt that make the most sense?"
Raeh's head has been healed.
Raeh scratches her chin.
Shadeark says, "Well I do not care how it ends up either way."
Raeh chortles at Shadeark.
Khregen asks, "De bad jhakor want te kill Saebra and de good Jhakor want te kill jurion?"
Illuriel's right leg has been healed.
Saebra says, "No."
Malikayl sits down on a makeshift wooden chair.
Khregen asks, "De udder way round?"
Saebra says, "It was the other way around."
Saebra nods to Khregen.
You ask, "So what are you saying?"
Saebra says, "They wished to kill Jurion. Keep me alive."
Raeh gets back on her feet.
Khregen asks, "And dat last un te leave told ye dis aye?"
You ask, "And they mixed us up?"
Illuriel asks, "But why kill Jurion?"
Saebra nods to Khregen.
Illuriel furrows her brow.
Saebra shakes her head at you.
Saebra says, "No."
You open your mouth as if to say something.
Saebra says, "I do not think they mixed anything up."
Raeh sighs restlessly.
You ask, "Then what are you getting at?"
Illuriel ponders the situation.
Saebra says, "I think they want us to doubt this alliance and those trying to form it."
Khregen asks, "So dis Ghuk was a plant ye figger?"
Saebra says, "No, Khregen."
Saebra says, "Think it over."
Illuriel asks, "So, you're saying there are good Jhakors and bad ones?"
Illuriel blinks.
Saebra says, "They send the bad ones in to order me kept alive, but kill Jurion."
Illuriel's back has been healed.
Malikayl leans on Illuriel.
Saebra asks, "What would that make you think?"
Malikayl asks, "Want some ale?" of Illuriel.
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
Saebra asks, "If the bad ones want me alive to push this through?"
Khregen asks, "So if Ghuk is a good un, den why does Ghuk's party want ye dead?"
Shadeark says, "They come in claiming to be good and begin to kill us in an attempt to shatter the alliance."
Shadeark yawns.
Illuriel says, "I'll be back."
Shadeark says, "Usual."
Saebra shakes her head.
Saebra says, "No. Only one claimed to be a good one."
Malikayl leans back while sitting on the makeshift wooden chair.
Saebra says, "I watched him attack warriors."
Illuriel picks up and heads for home after a long day of adventuring.
Raeh crosses her arms intently.
You rub your temples.
Saebra says, "Which is why I yelled to kill the warriors, not that hunter."
Shadeark says, "No tea here."
Khregen nods.
Raeh listens carefully.
Saebra says, "We have an informant loose."
Malikayl says, "I suppose i should apologize for calming in the fight then."
You ask, "The hunter who escaped?"
Malikayl chuckles softly.
Saebra says, "No. I believe it is one of our own."
Khregen says, "Dat hain't gonna matter much."
Khregen says, "Folk will find out sooner er later."
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
You sheath an intricately engraved low-steel broadsword in your polished steel thigh sheath.
Khregen says, "I still not got dis figgered."
Shadeark shrugs.
Saebra says, "They want to destroy possibility of alliance. So, they send the bad ones to kill, but not me."
You ask, "If there's an informant, who is it and why would they want to have me killed?"
Saebra says, "Your part in this I can not figure."
Saebra ponders the situation.
Shadeark says, "They do not like you."
Khregen nods to Saebra.
Shadeark shrugs.
Khregen says, "Aye."
You say, "I've slain more than a few, before last night."
Malikayl says, "Most have."
Raeh says, "You did seem kind of dubious about the alliance last night."
Raeh asks, "Do you think that had anything to do with it?"
Saebra says, "Only one of those who came tonight was a 'good one'"
You say, "Yes, but I didn't stand on a bench and scream, 'Down with the jhakor.'"
Raeh chuckles quietly.
Raeh nods to you.
Saebra says, "Yes, but if you recall..."
You ask, "And if they're going after those who were against the alliance, wouldn't they be attacking Kietal?"
Saebra glances at you.
Khregen says, "We aire missin an important peice te dis puzzel."
Saebra says, "I did mention that eve before that your opinion was very needed."
Saebra glances at you.
Malikayl asks, "The why part?"
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
Khregen says, "Maybe de bad ones wants ye alive fer a different reason den dis alliance Saebra."
Saebra says, "Because you were one of those who have been here the longest."
Saebra asks, "For what?"
You ask, "Because I'm known in the city?"
Saebra says, "I have no other contact than this alliance."
Khregen asks, "Why did dey grab ye afore?"
Saebra says, "That, I thank Grentar for."
Raeh scratches her chin.
Saebra says, "They asked to speak to what they call a lead. Grentar brought them to me."
Khregen says, "I tink maybe dis alliance ting jest brought yer name back te de forfront o sumones memory."
Raeh asks, "I don't understand it. So what do you think this attack was all about?"
Saebra peers at Khregen.
Saebra asks, "You mean the kidnapping attempt?"
Khregen says, "Aye."
Saebra gazes upwards to the heavens.
Saebra says, "That is what I need right now."
Saebra shakes her head.
Raeh walks over to Saebra.
Raeh rubs Saebra gently.
You ask, "So what do we do? Are you going to have contact with Ghuk?"
Saebra says, "If he is alive, he will find me."
Saebra nods to you.
Khregen says, "I spect ye aire important te de bad side fer sum reason we donna ken."
You open your mouth as if to say something.
Raeh ponders the situation.
You ask, "Maybe this is too forward, but can I see this Ghuk? Or can you ask him if he'll see me?"
You say, "I mean..."
You act: Jurion spreads his hands helplessly.
Saebra says, "I will ask."
Raeh nods to you.
Shadeark leans back while standing on the decorated wood slats.
You ask, "What have I ever done that would want jhakors to kill or not kill me?"
Khregen strokes his braided beard with a slight frown on his face.
Saebra nods to you.
Raeh says, "I think that would be a good idea actually."
Saebra says, "Or perhaps they just pointed to you."
Saebra glances at you.
Shadeark says, "Maybe you made a gesture at them that translate to I will kill your king."
Khregen asks, "I still not really figured why Jurion?"
Raeh asks, "Do you think Ghuk is trustworthy, Saebra?"
Malikayl asks, "Someone at random?"
You say, "You mean, perhaps they could have pointed to anyone."
Saebra says, "I do, Lady Raeh. After all, I've evidently just bet my life on it."
Saebra peers at her surroundings.
Saebra shudders.
Malikayl nods to Saebra.
Khregen says, "Dey all look alike te us I spect hit is near de same fer dem."
Malikayl says, "Not while im around."
Saebra says, "Aye."
Raeh furrows her brow.
Saebra asks, "If the bad ones say keep me alive, what does that look like to you?"
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
Saebra says, "Be honest."
Raeh asks, "To me?"
Saebra nods to Raeh.
Saebra says, "Aye."
Malikayl asks, "Possible attempt at disention in the ranks?"
Raeh says, "Honestly.."
You say, "That you're either a traitor, or that they want it to seem as if you are."
Saebra nods to you.
Saebra says, "That is my thought."
Raeh says, "It looks like they want you alive to keep the alliance alive."
Khregen asks, "Hit looks like dey wants dis allience but, tink about hit, if'n dey does den why attack at all?"
Saebra says, "Discredit me, the alliance doesn't happen."
You say, "And it is worse because we have no way of knowing whether Ghuk is trustworthy or not. He could be leading you on, Saebra."
Khregen says, "To late fer dat."
Raeh asks, "Yes, why do you trust Ghuk so much?"
You sigh.
You lean back while standing on the decorated wood slats.
Raeh asks, "Didn't you just meet him once?"
You act: Jurion stares at the ceiling.
Raeh ponders the situation.
You get a small squat glass from a small table.
You gulp down some saxumberry gin.
The gin tastes pleasantly dry, burning a path to your belly.
You drain your small squat glass dry!
Seeing that it's empty, you set your small squat glass aside.
Saebra says, "No, Khregen. If they can cause enough suspicion that I'm a traitor working with the jhakor and the orcs, the people will not take the chance."
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
Khregen says, "Not up te de people, up te de officers and de Prince."
Saebra says, "And an alliance will be no good if the people won't stand by it."
Shadeark says, "The people tend to take matters into their own hands a bit much."
Saebra asks, "You ask why I trust him, Lady Raeh?"
You ask, "How did they know we were going to be at Jael's?"
You say, "The only ones I told were you, Tracker, Illuriel, and those few I saw at the Crossroads."
Shadeark says, "Lady? I did not think she was noble."
You say, "And those few I told only a few moments ago."
You say, "Suiarr, I told last night, and Grentar."
Saebra says, "I didn't fully. If you will remember I clearly stated several times that we should proceed with caution. But, someone doesn't want me to."
Raeh nods to Saebra.
Raeh says, "That's true."
Saebra says, "I went earlier asking for you."
Saebra says, "Mentioned we had a game."
You ask, "Did you say where we'd be?"
You ask, "Who did you ask?"
Khregen says, "Asked me."
Saebra nods to Khregen.
Saebra says, "Shadeark was there."
Khregen says, "I meet ye bot on de road."
Saebra says, "I can not remember everyone that was there."
You steady yourself.
Saebra says, "I asked at two different points."
Saebra says, "Please sit, Jurion."
You sit down on a makeshift wooden chair.
Malikayl places a conforting hand on Jurion's arm.
You say, "Gin and combat nerves."
Malikayl nods to you.
You rub your head.
Saebra hands Jael some money.
Jael turns to the bar and pours a tall mug full of honey mead. He hands it over to Saebra, winks and says, "Mixed this up myself. Enjoy it."
Jael gives Saebra her change.
Saebra offers her tall thraelware mug to you.
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
You accept Saebra's offer.
You smile gratefully at Saebra.
Saebra walks over to a makeshift wooden chair.
Saebra rubs you gently.
Khregen shakes his head.
You say, "Mayhap we'd best begin to ask who might have known about this."
Saebra says, "Everyone in town knew this."
Saebra gazes upwards to the heavens.
Khregen says, "A nigh impossible task."
Shadeark says, "That narrows it down."
Shadeark says, "To about....everyone."
Shadeark says, "But me."
Saebra says, "I wanted everyone involved. As the town belongs to us as a whole."
Saebra mumbles some obscenities.
You say, "No, I meant about tonight in Jael's."
Saebra ponders the situation.
Malikayl says, "I was just invited to a dart game..."
You say, "It was a whim. I didn't put a notice up on anywhere."
Saebra asks, "Shadeark, who was there?"
Saebra asks, "You and who else?"
Shadeark says, "I forget."
Saebra says, "I was looking for you. I didn't even think of this."
Saebra nods to you agreeably.
You put a tall thraelware mug on a small table.
Saebra rubs her temples.
Raeh smiles wryly.
You say, "I have to tell you, Saebra, this reinforces my unease about this entire alliance."
Saebra says, "We were attacked by the 'bad good ones'."
Saebra nods to you.
You say, "We don't know who's doing what, or where, or why. We can't tell them apart."
Saebra says, "As I think it was intended to."
You say, "We'd better speak to those who spoke out against it, in case that's why I was targeted."
Saebra says, "Thing is that I do not recall anyone being truly against it."
Saebra says, "That is the prob...."
You say, "Only myself, Kietal..."
Malikayl says, "I was.."
Saebra says, "Damn."
You say, "And we came around, it was really almost just talk."
Malikayl says, "I just didn't voice my opionion."
You stand up.
You say, "I've got to think on this."
Saebra nods to you.
Shadeark says, "We could use my bloodbeast plan to tell."
You act: Jurion rubs the back of his neck.
Saebra asks, "Can we just put the orcs in the pit?"
Saebra peers at Shadeark.
Shadeark says, "I guess."
Saebra says, "Save us all a great deal of trouble."
Khregen strokes his braided beard with a slight frown on his face.
You say, "Bloodbeasts don't like the taste of orc."
You smile weakly.
Saebra says, "We can pay them."
Saebra grins at you.
Raeh sits down on a makeshift wooden chair.
Khregen shakes his head.
Khregen frowns.
Raeh leans back while sitting on the makeshift wooden chair.
Khregen says, "I am still mixed up."
Malikayl sips some refreshing dwarven ale from his tall pint glass.
Saebra says, "Warriors and hunters ran in."
You say, "Keep me informed, won't you? I should very much like to speak to this Ghuk and find out if I was the target, or if it's all some huge mistake."
Saebra nods to you.
Saebra says, "I will do so."
Shadeark says, "I need some tea."
You say, "Thank you."
Shadeark mumbles.
Saebra asks, "Next game, we keep hidden?"
Saebra peers at you.
You say, "Next game we'll have in Fishbourne."
Saebra says, "Agreed."
Khregen asks, "De bad jhakor attacked. Did dey attack everyone er or single out a target?"
Kahund just walked through the door.
Kahund's group follows him.
Kahund asks, "That game of darts s-s-still up?"
Maris walks over to Saebra.
Maris hugs Saebra.
Saebra hugs Maris.
Saebra groans at Kahund.
Kahund raises an eyebrow.
You say, "I think it's probably been cancelled."
Kahund flails his arms about.
